Michael A. Maxwell is a partner at Maxwell Graham in Issaquah, Washington, where he focuses his practice on serious personal injury cases. His areas of expertise include medical malpractice, birth injuries, traumatic brain injury, wrongful death, car and motorcycle accidents, product liability, and premises liability. With over 100 cases brought to trial, arbitration, or resolved by motion, Mike has earned a reputation as a skilled and tenacious advocate for injured individuals.
A Seattle native, Mike graduated from Bishop Blanchet High School and the University of Washington. He went on to earn his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and later received a prestigious LL.M. in Trial Advocacy from Georgetown University Law Center as an E. Barrett Prettyman Fellow. In this role, he supervised law students trying criminal cases and honed his own courtroom skills through intensive trial training.
Mike’s legal journey began with public interest work focused on prison reform and death penalty cases. He worked on an Eighth Amendment federal trial aimed at reforming North Carolina’s prison system and assisted the Southern Prisoners Defense Committee in Atlanta to halt executions across the South. His experience includes a federal public defender internship in Alaska, where he secured his first jury trial acquittal in a drug trafficking case.
Returning to Washington, Mike served as a public defender in King County, representing clients in Seattle, Kent, Bellevue, Issaquah, and beyond. He later spent nearly three years as an attorney for a major insurance company, gaining insight into insurance defense tactics. Ultimately, he realized his passion lay in helping injured people, and he joined a plaintiff’s firm before founding Maxwell Graham.
Today, Mike channels his diverse experience into fighting for clients who have suffered life-altering injuries. His deep understanding of both the defense and plaintiff sides of litigation enables him to approach each case with strategic precision and unwavering commitment.
